I was blessed with the opportunity to serve as an agricultural
missionary with the Honduras Moravian Church from 1983-86. I helped
start trading posts with a development agency called MOPAWI (Mosquitia
Pawisa). My training is in Agricultural Engineering.
Currently I am an agricultural engineer with the Texas Agricultural
Experiment Station (part of the Texas A&M Univeristy System)
in Temple, Texas.
I recently spent 6 weeks on the East Coast (Gracias a Dios Department)
assessing the needs for recovery after Hurricane Mitch. My family
is also currently considering/planning to return to the East Coast
permanently.

Mick was born in W. Hollywood FL and is still trying to figure
out what he is doing in Syracuse.
He loves the lower latitudes and has spent much time sailing in
the Eastern Caribbean.
His love for the water leaves him in pursuit of capturing a piece
of the Caribbean. He holds some beachfront near LaCeiba and has
recently become very interested in Utila.
He has participated in several dental/medical missions to mainland
Honduras and plan in the future include helping the people of Utila
with their clinic.
Snorkeling, SCUBA, sailing and sportfishing from a sailboat (to
eat), cooking are a few of his interests.
Chronological age is 42; behavioral age 32 and decreasing all the
time. "I stay young by racing my Hobie 16."
"I detest sexism and racism."
"I love life and love Honduras and their people; I plan to
love life and live in Honduras in the future."

"I became interested in Honduras as the result of a want ad
in the back of a trade bulletin which spoke of the shortage of DC's
(chiropractors) in that country. My planned initial visit to Honduras
was curtailed when the doctor who would have been my host suffered
a medical emergency a week prior to my flight. Then came Mitch."

I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ceguaca, Santa Barbara from 8/89
- 12/91. Ceguaca is about 20K south of the town of Santa Barbara.
I also lived in Santa Lucia during Peace Corps training.
I enjoyed my experience in Honduras and still have many friends
in my town. I have been back twice, in '94 when they were having
the electricity rationing, and again in '97 for our honeymoon. It
was my wife's first trip outside the U.S., but she loved it. We
rented a cay off Utila the first week, and then went to my site
and Copan.
My travel includes all over Honduras, and to Guatemala and Bolivia
(which I highly recommend - stunning).
Since the Peace Corps I have worked for U.S. Congresswoman Nita
Lowey as a District Rep., the Foreign Policy Association as the
Manager of the Great Decisions program, and currently as a Development
Officer for International Planned Parenthood Federation/Western
Hemisphere Region. I am looking for a position that will get me
back to Latin America, where I would like to raise a family.
My education includes a Master's Degree in Public Administration
(Non-Profit Mgmt. specialization, International Development concentration)
from New York University.
Saludos to all the Santa Barbara pateplumas!

Mother of Ted Maschal ("Ted E.Danger") who was living
with his bride, Kamilla on Roatan, SCUBA instructing, and at the
time "Mitch" hit was probably still in a cast with a broken
ankle. My profile is unimportant; I am only hoping to find some
word of or from my son; last word was a telephone call (made on
a cell phone) last Tuesday morning at 4:30 (SF time) when Ted said
they were expecting "Mitch" to hit that day, that they
had a safe place to go to, and that he was going to try to safely
moor a couple of boats in the harbor for someone he knew. He said
he'd call when it was over. I realize that with the damage to the
infrastructure that may be some time in happening; getting any answer

My longstanding work and interests revolve around both peace and
international development, especially, peace through development.
I, after many years of consideration, development and work, have
put together a peace through development project, based on Buckminster
Fuller's concept for a strategic world game to "Make the World
Work for Everyone".
The focus of this project in its first stages will be Belize--as

I am a 53 year old Gringo, who married a wonderful Honduran woman,
Candida. After traveling to Honduras for the first time in 1992,
I fell in Love with the country. We have family living in Tegucigalpa,
La Ceiba, Juticalpa and Las Limas, Olancho. We visit Honduras yearly
and hope to retire there in the not too distant future. I am a computer
technician, programer and program manager. I work for a non-profit

Marlen and I own a tree service business. She is a native of Savá,
Colón. We've been married 4 years and have a son, Sam. We also have
her daughter, Maresa, who lives with us, and her 3 brothers, who
live in Savá, and my 2 daughters, who live in Colorado, ahd their
brother, who goes to school in St. Louis. Marlen studied to be a
natural science teacher, but then started and ran a milling business
before coming to the USA. Marlen has strong mechanical abilities,
and eye for art and design, and a strong desire to own and operate
a retail or an import business. My background includes a degree
in horticulture, certification as an arborist, and licensure as
a tree and landscape contractor. Besides being interested in amenity
and production forestry and horticulture, I take an active interest
in community improvement, individual liberties (including abolition
of the income tax), women's rights and education, and sustainable
development of resources. I'm also active in my church as a Sunday
School teacher.
Our joining this list was precipitated by hurricane Mitch. Both
of us are deeply concerned about the conditions in Honduras. Marlen
endured Hurricane Fifí as a 4 year old, and saw many of her family's
modest possessions obliterated with one lightening bolt, and saw
the rest float away with the floods.

drives a concours '67 Toronado that Janice has never deigned to

I have a University degree in Commerce with a major in marketing
and business administration, and have spent almost all of my career
in computers and communications. Semi-retired at 50, after my last
stint of 14 years of wireless communications experience, the relaxation
is welcome. I'm married to Michele who unfortunately, still toils
in the salt mines. I've only had 2 visits to Roatan, the last for
a month in the spring of 1998, when I ran a small hotel for the
owner who had to go Stateside. Roatan interests me as a retirement
location, and I love the beaches, the people, and the beautiful
weather. Hopefully, I'll be able to get down again in the near future
for a "land shopping" trip...but its so hard to pry myself
out of the ocean, snorkeling happily over the reef, to drive around
looking at land. I've been a member of Hondo1 for about 1 1/2 years,
and enjoy both the information that is always available, and the
banter between the members.
