I will be travelling from San Pedro Sula to Yoro the first week of December. Can anyone give me information regarding road conditions? Can a pick up truck get through the mountains on Highway 14? Thanks.

There are numerous car rentals available on Roatan. I think that the most reasonable must be the Toyota rent-a-car at and across the street from the airport. They had a range of new air conditioned economy cars and pick-ups for $30-35 a day. They even offered to deliver one to my house 15 miles away without charge. Some of the rental places are charging twice this rate for older, less fuel efficient models.

You don't have to rent a car to enjoy an independent stay on Roatan. There are numerous minivan buses, taxis, and communal taxis. The prices for the buses and communal taxis are standardized and reasonable. If you get an "express" or personal taxi ride, the price is subject to negotiation. Come to an understanding before you ride. The prices fluctuate wildly, depending on the hour, and how much money you appear to have.
