Comments My name is Arthur. I'm from CANADA and I just returned from HONDURAS as volunteer. You are absouletly right people get all kinds of diseases from contaminated water in Honduras.
I spent 2.5 months there working mainly with Honduran RED CROSS teaching how to build " Solar Cookers" and "Passive Batch System" in rural areas, as well as in many Technical Colleges. With the solar energy they were able to pastorize and sterilize the water in 30 minutes as well as cook rice, chicken, vegetables and any food between 2 and 4 hrs. I also taught a Passive batch sytem at the German Honduran Technical College. They will start mass production of this system for Honduran needs .
Most material I brought to Honduras with my own resources and paid all my expenses. The Solar Oven materials cost approximately $2. I had to return because my financial sources was drying out. The people in Honduras didn't want me to return but it was necessary. They made me feel so welcome I was really touched by their hospitality. I also worked with a medical brigade (from US) in Morolica area. The whole town was destroyed - no electricity no water. I still remember the happiness and excitement on peoples faces when they cooked the rice from sun . I have letters from several official organizations there including president of Red Cross Villeneuve, Cortez, inviting me to continue my work in Honduras. If I can get some sponsors to purchase the materials and cover the expenses I will return before July to this incredibly friendly country to teach them that they can help themselves.
