I went many times by bus from Guatemala City to San Pedro and back, but not many times on a direct trip. I used to get off the border coming from Guatemala, and spend some time in Copan. At least one time I went the express route all the way. I don't recall the name of the border crossing, but it seemed to me that every time I came through the same place, I believe there is only one border crossing used by the bus lines for this trip, and it's some 15 or 25 miles from Copan. The trip was always safe and fun, although I would recommend you spend some time in Copan.
